Cate to present at Tony Awards

According to Broadway.com, Cate's set to present an award at the 64th annual Tony Awards. The show and telecast is scheduled on June 13th, and the cermony will be held at the Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Sean Hayes. The Tony Awards go out to achievements in live American theatre. Cate and Andrews first STC season books profit

The first season of plays programmed with Cate and Andrew at the helm of the STC as artistic directors booked the company a profit of $607,167 last year, SMH reports. The STC's general manager, Patrick McIntyre, credits Cate and Andrew's 'canny choices' and commitment to the artform.

Happy birthday, Cate!

It's May 14th, which means that today is Cate's birthday! She turns 41 this year. Happy birthday Cate, many happy returns, and we wish you many more happy and healthy years!

Shooting for "Hanna" started

Only weeks after the rumour first surfaced, Cate is already busy shooting scenes for "Hanna", a Joe Wright-directed thriller in which she stars opposite Saoirse Ronan and Eric Bana.

Studio Babelsberg, the executive production company, announced that the shooting takes place in Finland, Morocco and several locations in Germany; Finland is already wrapped up and Cate has been spotted filming in Berlin and Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, recently.

Cate's speech at the APAM

Cate addressed many arts delegates from all over the world at the Australian Performing Arts Market, where she delivered the keynote address this year. As an excerpt of an APAM press release states:

"Acclaimed actor Cate Blanchett has been announced as the keynote speaker at the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) in Adelaide next month (22 - 26 February).

Securing Cate Blanchett to deliver the keynote address is a major coup for the Market, given her high profile and intimate knowledge of the performing arts and film industries both in Australia and abroad.

Her experience as the Co-Artistic Director of the Sydney Theatre Company, combined with her recent return from the outstandingly successful tour to New York and Washington with A Streetcar Named Desire, means she will bring a fresh, 'on the ground' perspective to APAM.

She will address an audience of Australian and international delegates at the event, which plays a major role in launching Australian artists onto the international stage."
